Man arrested after fire at Worcester flats

Police say a 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, after a fire at a block of flats in Worcester.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – three from Worcester and one from Malvern Fire Stations – were called at 17:46 yesterday (13 February) to a fire with persons reported at The Butts.

The fire involved a second floor flat in a three-storey block with 75% of the second floor damaged by fire and 100% smoke damaged.

The fire was extinguished by eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus

All persons were accounted for and electrics were isolated.

There were no casualties.
