The case of a man - found guilty of killing three people in a crash in Worcester - will not be referred to the Court of Appeal, it's been confirmed.

Joe-Lewis Tyler was sentenced to 18 years in prison in August at Worcester Crown court for being found guilty of three counts of causing death by dangerous driving on the A44 Spetchley Road.

The 34-year-old killed six-year-old Leo Painter, Courtney Hemming, 26, and Claire Adkins, 39.

Following Tyler's conviction, there were calls from families and the local community for the sentence to be appealed, claiming it was too lenient.

It has been confirmed, however, that will not happen.

The Solicitor General Sarah Sackman MP said:

“I was deeply saddened by this case and my deepest sympathies are with the families of Courtney Hemming, Claire Adkins and Leo Painter at this terrible time.

However, after careful consideration I have concluded that this case cannot properly be referred to the Court of Appeal. The threshold for referral is a high one, and the test was not met in this case.”
