A school in Herefordshire which had to close last week due to flooding, has announced they have finally managed to get all year groups back in as normal.

Peterchurch Primary School was one of a number of those impacted by the floods which resulted in them closing on the Wednesday, as water started to fill the classrooms and building.

They remained closed throughout the rest of the week, and had children partially return on Tuesday, before a full return yesterday.

Headteacher Nia Powell says some areas do remain closed, but it's been great news getting to re-open and have the children back in.

"We're all extremely happy to be back at school," she said.

"It's lovely to hear the children's voices and have them back in the classrooms and learning, and for staff it's nice to have a bit of normality.

"We are very overwhelmed by the amount of support we've been given, offered not just from the local community, but schools across Herefordshire.

"Some of the classes have moved around which looks slightly different, we have certain areas that are still out of action at the moment, but they've been cordoned off, and everything has been made secure for the children to return."

Peterchurch Fire Brigade helped pump the water out of the school last week.
