Hereford hub continuing support for the homeless during festive period
Lee's Place has been operating over Christmas, including on Christmas Day, where it provided a full dinner for people
The organisers of a hub in Hereford have been remaining open over Christmas so those who are homeless can still receive a hot meal.
Lee's Place has been operating as usual through the festive period, even holding an event around midday on Christmas Day itself so people could get a dinner.
After initially launching in January this year at Maylord Orchards in the city where it helped serve just short of 3,000 meals (2,943) over the first six months, it eventually moved to St Peter's Square to secure a more permanent location, opening its doors there back in October.
Christine Price, who's the chief executive of Community Power which is the charity responsible for the running of it, said they wanted to make sure people could continue to access support over this period between Christmas and New Year.
"It's really important at this time of year, she said.
"Just that couple of hours where they can come and sit down in a comfortable warm place, no judgement, no criteria for getting in other than being homeless.
"They can relax and connect with others and just take those worries off their mind and I think the practical side of good nutrition and warm clean clothes goes without saying."
During its time at its former spot in Hereford the hub also helped 128 different individuals.
