Hereford FC's new manager Paul Caddis says he is not scared to make big changes after being appointed by the National League North club.

The Bulls finished just six points above the relegation zone after sacking Josh Gowling before the end of the season.

But his successor, former Birmingham City and Swindon Town defender Paul Caddis, says he is not scared to make changes - holding talks with only four senior players from the existing squad.

Only Jack Evans, Jared Hodgkiss, Ryan McLean and Harry Pinchard will be talking with Caddis, 35, with Aaron Amadi-Holloway the only player already contracted.

On letting the players know their futures before a 5-0 thrashing away at Blyth Spartans on the last day of the season, Caddis said: "I'm not scared to make tough decisions. I know that's what I need to do, that's what I'm here to do.

"The sooner we get that sorted the better and if they want to go somewhere else then fine, I'll shake their hands and they can go wherever they want."

Caddis said while he can't guarantee Hereford will be promoted as champions next season, he hopes to create a side that will show character, desire and hard work. Those factors for him are "non-negotiables".

After attending Hereford FC's last home game of the season, he said it was obvious the fans want a team to get behind - something which he knows is his job to do.

A former Scottish international, Caddis started his professional career at Celtic.

The club said he will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role after a successful playing career that spanned over 15 years, in which time he made over 400 senior appearances in the game.

While his first job in management, he said he is ready for the challenge, which he will embrace, and embraces responsibility.

"I want to live a die by my own decisions which I've now got the opportunity to do so and I'm really excited," he added.
