Hereford and Worcester fire service send support to Ukraine as part of convoy
A convoy of UK fire and rescue services is set to deliver over 15,000 pieces of life saving firefighting equipment to Ukraine
Hereford and Worcester fire and rescue service say they'll be continuing to do what they can to help colleagues in Ukraine.
Over 15,000 pieces of equipment including 26 fire engines are set to be delivered to firefighters in the country.
Lee Watson is an assistant director of response for the service, he says they've supported several of these convoys and it's privilege for them to help.
"Every day they're operating in an extremely dangerous environment," he said.
"The fact that we can send this across to Ukraine and the fact that they can use it is is fantastic from our perspective, the fact that we are able to help is extremely valuable to us and to them as well.
"If we have the opportunity to donate this equipment with the support of our fire authority, then we will because they can still make use of this equipment."
Figures from February showed in total in Ukraine 411 firehouses have been destroyed, 1,700 fire vehicles lost, and 100 firefighters killed since the start of the full scale invasion.
