Emergency services search river Severn for missing man

A 19 year old man was reported to have entered the river at Upton Bridge on Saturday morning

Emergency services have been searching the river in Upton-upon-Severn after reports of a man entering the water in the early hours of yesterday morning.

It was reported that a 19 year old male had entered the river Severn from Upton Bridge.

Trained police officers, a police helicopter and the fire service were deployed to search for the man.

Inspector Andrew Standing said yesterday: “Our search of the river will carry on today, and our officers will continue to support the family as the search continues.

“Our officers are out speaking to the local community in Upton-upon-Severn this morning and we would like to thank them for their support and offers of help.”
