Worcester Warriors ex Director of Rugby Steve Diamond has launched his bid to recuse the rugby union club from administration. Having had his contract terminated when the High Court partially liquidated the club, he's now hoping that he can take Worcester Warriors back to the Gallagher Premiership in the next four years.

The consortium known as Sixways Village includes not just rugby royalty like Steve Daimond, but also former Leicester chief executive Simon Cohen. They hope this expertise will make them the administrator Begbies Traynor's preferred bidder.

Back in the Premiership within 4 years

Steve Diamond said he would be the chief executive of this new venture, with his main aim being "to create a sustainable business that is able to compete back in the Premiership within the next three or four years, and allows professional rugby to thrive in Worcester,

"It took us a month to put the plan together and we presented it last week to the RFU and the PRL (Premiership Rugby).

"Now a decision needs to be made and hopefully that decision is for the right organisation to put Worcester Warriors back on the map."

Time to "revolutionise the Championship"

The partial liquation, due to an unpaid tax bill in the region of £6million pounds, saw the club suspended from the Premiership, all staff/player contracts terminated and their likely relegation to the Championship. The latter is yet to be confirmed with the possibility of an appeal.

Steve Diamond says he has no issues with the rules which could see them removed from the Gallagher Premiership.

"Punishment and sanction is required," added ex-boss Steve Diamond.

"I'm prepared to take the relegation and it may take us two or three years to get back to a position where we can challenge to get back into the Premiership,

"It is a big opportunity to take the club into the Championship, where I've never coached or played.

"I think I've got a vision that could revolutionise the Championship and make people in the Premiership look down and say, these guys are running sustainable rugby businesses, how do we follow suit?"

One other consortium is thought to be in the running to take over the club, with administrators, Begbies Traynor, reportedly set to name a preferred bidder.
