Flood warnings and alerts still remain in place across some areas in Herefordshire and Worcestershire today (10 December) following Storm Darragh.

The River Severn in Worcestershire is expected to peak today, while the River Wye in Hereford reached it's high on Sunday night into Monday morning.

Head of highways at Herefordshire Council Ed Bradford says this storm impacted the county in a different way compared to Storm Bert, and they received a large volume of call-outs in recent days.

He said: "In highways we received over 360 calls over the weekend, with a huge number of trees coming down across the network.

"I think we had in a region of about 80 plus trees that fell across the network, with teams working around the clock to clear those.

"In terms of the damage that we've seen, it's mainly due to the high winds with falling trees, so slightly different this time around to previous events where we'd normally see properties that have been flooded internally.

"We've been told by the Met Office that we don't expect to see rainfall causing us any issues over the next few days, which is nice to hear, and it's very much just about clearing up after the storm."

A number of homes across both counties were also left without power following the storm, with the National Grid being impacted.
