Five people have been arrested following a protest in Herefordshire.

It took place outside a drugs laboratory off Bromyard Road in Ledbury yesterday and is understood to have involved animal rights activists.

West Mercia Police say their officers attended to ensure any disruption to the local community was kept to a minimum.

Of the five people detained, four were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, with one arrested on suspicion of a breach of the public order act.

Superintendent Mel Paley said: “We respect the right to peaceful protest, however, where criminal offences are committed will take action against those suspected of being involved.

“I would like to thank the local community for their understanding and co-operation as we responded to the protest.”
