First students arrive at Hereford's brand new NMITE institute
Thenew technology and engineering institute opened its doors last week
The first 30 students have arrived at Hereford's brand new technology and engineering college.
The Pioneer Cohort were welcomed onto campus last week and have been getting involved in a series of activities, talks and events to help get them settled in.
NMITE is the vision of CEO Elena Rodriguez-Falcon who wanted to revolutionise the educational pathway for engineering.
The college offers students Undergraduate Master's degrees which they can complete in three years and they don't need to have science or maths qualifications to apply.
Instead NMITE wants to encourage a diverse, creative, passionate and out-of-the-box-thinking group of people.
Abu-Hairarer Ishfaq is one of the first students to set foot onto the new campus. We caught up with him after his first week.
"I feel like I'm part of something, a part of history here", he says.
"The more days pass, the more I realise I'm in the process of something great.
"I hope that greatness will be there at the end of the three years and It'll be amazing to look back on but I'm so glad I've joined.
"One of the great things about NMITE is that it's so different. I like the fact that they aren;t looking for someone with maths and physics or other technical subjects.
"They're looking for who people are as an individual and what they can bring to the table. Whatever you're lacking they will train you up and fill those gaps in your knowledge.
"In terms of the campus, I was like a kid in a candy store - you have to see it to believe it.
"Even what they show on the website isn't enough because I was looking at some of the equipment and I just can't wait to experiment with this kind of technology.
"And the more I look and explore the building and campus, the more I fall in love with it."
