Two injured in Droitwich gas tanker leak
Emergency services have said homes were evacuated
A woman has been taken to hospital after liquid nitrogen gas leaked from a tanker in Droitwich.
Emergency services were called to Vines Lane where several homes were evacuated due to the gas leak.
The gas, which leaked from a lorry tanker, can cause burns, frostbite and suffocation.
Paramedics took one woman to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with potentially serious injuries and discharged a second patient at the scene after he refused to go to hospital.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said an ambulance and paramedic officer were sent to the scene at around 10.40am on Tuesday (20th June).
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus dispersed the cloud of gas.
“It is believed the incident was a result of liquid nitrogen leaking from a delivery tanker," a spokesperson said.
“All people were accounted for and a man in his 50s was assessed by the ambulance service."
