A violent domestic abuser has been sentenced to five years and eight months in prison at crown court after previously being found guilty of six offences.

Aaron Caines, 33, was found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court on February 26 for domestic violence offences of assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH), assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH), two counts of criminal damage and harassment as well as a non-domestic violence related common assault offence.

Caines, who is already in prison on remand, was sentenced yesterday (8 April) to serve five years and eight months for the six offences which relate to an assault on a woman in Worcester in 2022. Restraining orders were also given to protect his two victims.

He beat his victim and stabbed her in the hand while also breaking a TV, her phone and making a hole in the ceiling of an address in Worcester.

Caines also assaulted the victim’s friend who tried to stop the attack. He then messaged and called the victim after he was bailed trying to get the victim to drop the charges.

He was further arrested in 2023 for harassment when he was remanded but he still tried to contact the victim while in prison.

Detective Inspector James Bamber of South Worcestershire’s Protecting Vulnerable People (PVP) team said: “We are pleased Caines received this prison sentence which keeps him behind bars and reflects the cowardly and violent nature of the attack on his victim.

“West Mercia Police will not tolerate domestic abuse of any kind and we will actively seek to protect vulnerable people across our force area.

“We have a team of dedicated Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) here who proactively work to both support victims and protect others from potential harm.
