The cabinet member for infrastructure and transport at Herefordshire council says the delays to the finishing of improvement works in Leominster have been frustrating for everybody involved.

Work started in the town back in May this year, and was meant to be all finished in September, but is now expected to be completed by the end of November.

Improvements to the High Street, Iron Cross, Victoria Street, Corn Street and Corn Square included surfacing, improved paving, wider pavements, making it safer and more accessible for pedestrians.

Councillor Philip Price says he's been listening to those that have been affected, and they aren't expecting to have any further setbacks.

"There's been all sorts of additional things which has cost money, time, confusion, and frustration to everybody concerned," he said.

"This includes the contractors, the consultants, the officers, us as members, and most importantly, those businesses. because they don't see an end in sight while this is happening.

"If you're going to dig up everything around your business, it's bound to impact on that business, and we're trying to support those businesses in whatever way we can."

Work on the High Street and Victoria Street is almost said to be finished, but the roads won’t open to traffic until November to ensure continued safe working.
