Worcester Police recovered more than 50 cannabis plants after executing a misuse of drugs warrant at an address in the Cherry Orchard area yesterday (September 9 ).

The warrant was successfully executed by officers from Safer Neighbourhood teams at a property in Cherry Street following intelligence gathered around a suspected illegal cannabis grow at the address.

The teams used force to enter the house and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.

He has since been detained by Immigration Enforcement.

They then gained entry to an outbuilding where a cannabis grow of more than 50 plants was discovered on the ground floor.

It will now be destroyed. Police also found evidence of a harvested crop on the first floor.

PC Phoebe Attwood of Battenhall and Nunnery SNT said: “Officers from Worcester and Warndon executed a warrant at an address in Cherry Street following intelligence around a suspected cannabis grow.

“One man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis who has been handed to Immigration Enforcement and more than 50 plants were recovered.

“Cannabis grows can be linked to organised crime groups, whose activities fuel further criminality, including modern slavery. Tackling these operations is vital to protecting our communities and keeping them safe from harm.”
