A school in Worcestershire has had the 100th Peace Pole in the UK planted in their gardens.

Pupils at South Bromsgrove High School welcomed the display which aims to remind people on the importance of peace.

Head teacher Chris Smith says it's a real honour, and helps deliver key messages to pupils around the topic.

He said: "We're really proud, and it's really poignant to have and remind people on, with what we've seen in places such as Ukraine recently.

"We've got students in the school who've come over from Ukraine and joined the school because they've had to leave the country, so it's part of what we do in terms of developing students as global citizens, and getting an understanding of the world around them.

"The other part of it really is it's a useful reminder with the students to just get them to treat each other nicely, and treat people with respect."

Peace Poles are planted through the Heart of England Rotary, with displays in schools and community gardens throughout the East and West Midlands.
