Bird flu confirmed in commercial poultry in Worcestershire

Bird flu has been found in a large flock of commercial poultry in Worcestershire.

The Department of Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) confirmed on Saturday (December 27) that a highly pathogenic avian influenza strain (H5N1) was found in commercial poultry near Alvechurch, Bromsgrove.

A 3km protection zone and a 10km surveillance zone have been set up around the site.

Defra say all poultry on the premises will be humanely culled.
