Bike share scheme a 'success' in Hereford
The Beryl Bikes CEO says it helps create a sustainable transport method
The co-founder of a bike sharing scheme in Hereford says it's had a positive impact on how people commute around the area.
The Beryl Bikes project launched in Worcester on Monday, delivering 175 e-bikes, and 50 pedal bikes across the city.
Phillip Ellis is the CEO at Beryl Bikes, and says the aim is to provide a more sustainable way of transport for people.
"The idea is people can hop on the bike and complete a short journey, whether that's going from home to work, or to university or college," he said.
"You might be completing a journey that would otherwise be done in a car, which if it's a short journey around town, if you can do it on a bike,, it's so much more environmentally sustainable.
"We've got some really successful ones nearby such as in Hereford, which has been there for nearly five years now, and it's a more healthy way of doing things for both the rider, and also a more sustainable way of doing it for everybody else's benefit."
Earlier this month it was announced the vehicles had clocked up more than one million kilometres in Hereford.
