Organisers have confirmed that a popular apple festival due to take place in Worcestershire this weekend has been cancelled.

Applefest 2025 was due to take place in Tenbury Wells on Saturday (October 4), but today (September 30) in a statement organisers announced that the festival had been cancelled ahead a storm Amy being forecast to hit the UK on Friday.

In a statement on Facebook Tenbury Applefest committee said it was with "much regret" that they had to cancel the event due to the "heavy rain and extreme winds" forecast for Saturday.

The committee added: "In fairness to their contractors, the participants and all the visiting public it seemed it could be potentially irresponsible and unproductive to proceed faced with the then stated forecast of heavy rain and extreme winds from midday Friday and though all-day Saturday.

"Despite there always being the possibility of an improved outlook the decision was taken at the latest time that it was possible to give notice to many of the suppliers and participants.

"We thank you for your interest and continued support for Applefest, share your disappointment and look forward to a better forecast for 3rd October 2026."

The window dressing competition judged by Kerry's will still be going ahead.

Organisers said they would appreciate it if those displaying posters could remove them or write "cancelled" on them.
