Age UK Wyvern launched to support people through the winter months
It's following the closure of the Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire branch last month
A charity which helps elderly people in Herefordshire and Worcestershire says it's important those who need their support can still reach out to them this winter.
Age UK Wyvern has been set-up to cover the counties, after the closure of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire branch at the end of last month.
Formerly named Age UK Worcester, Malvern Hills and Hereford Localities, the charity say this will continue to allow for them to support people living across the area.
Deputy chief executive of Age UK Wyvern Sue Mosley says it was important for them to not let people be isolated by the changes, and the services do have a real impact in communities through the colder months.
She said: "Following the closure of Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire last month, there has been some consolidation of work, and we've really had to do a gap analysis in terms of where the gaps are as a result of the closure.
"We were able to pick up the dementia well-being service in Worcestershire, and also the home from hospital service, which is incredibly important, especially going into the winter months, so that older people leaving hospital have got that support.
"Our message this winter is just to encourage people to reach out, not only older people, but their families as well.
"If they have concerns about their their loved ones, because there is support out there, and there are a number of initiatives in order to make sure that older people can live and not just exist through the winter months."
The charity closed the doors to their Herefordshire and Worcestershire site on the 30 September.
