10,000 burpees in 24 hours challenge awaits former Worcestershire Royal Marine

A former Royal Marines commando from Worcestershire says he's ready for his attempt to try and perform 10,000 burpees today (22 March) in the space of 24 hours.
46-year-old Jamie Grant served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan with the Royal Marines before retiring from the armed forces.
Experts at the University of Worcester estimate he’ll burn between 6,000-8,000 calories and will need to average 417 burpees per hour, or seven per minute to complete it.
He says he's been working hard ahead of the challenge and is expecting it to be a tough one.
"I've been doing a lot of burpees, a lot of strength conditioning training as well just to prepare myself physically and mentally for it," he said.
"It hasn't gone without it's mishaps, I've had my niggles, I'm feeling a bit apprehensive as well because I know it's a monstrous challenge.
"When I picked the total, 10,000 seemed like a good number, so I just went with it and thought was it doable and had it been done before, it's a crazy amount of repetitions but it is doable like I said and we will just see now."
Jamie is doing the challenge in aid of the Royal Marines charity who supported him following his time in the armed forces.
