Yorkshire Bus Bar returning to North Yorkshire
The converted double decker bus is reopening today.
A converted 1966 double decker bus is up and running again as a mobile bar following the easing of restrictions.
The team at Yorkshire Bus Bar have decided to reopen today (Friday 16th April).
Over the years it's gone from being a passenger bus to a mobile home, before being rescued from the scrap heap.
Chris Manning is one of the directors, and says: "I've always wanted to have a double decker bus in the old school style, but could never get one.
"We ended up finding one in the scrapyard, and we took it home to spend 5 months on reworking it. We had to have a reason to have it, so we turned it into a bar.
"We've not done a lot in the last year or so, but with the bus we can do social distancing. It's out in the open, and staff are working hard to help people's experiences.
"The bus was originally travelling from Harrogate to York in her working life, she's been a camper van and she's been outside a pub as advertising.
"People do like the bus. Our main thing is that we sell Yorkshire products on a Yorkshire bus. We drive anywhere really, and have gone as far as Nottingham and Sea Fest in Scarborough.
"I enjoy driving the bus - it's a novelty. However, don't get stuck behind as she only does 40 miles an hour!
"When the Yorkshire Bus Bar arrives in Rillington today it's going to get people together who haven't seen each other in a while. There's plenty of chairs for everyone, and we're going to get the community back seeing each other again.
"It's not just about selling beer - people are going to be able to socially distance and reunite".
