A group of bikers who transport emergency blood across Yorkshire say they're pleased disposable vapes are going to be banned.

The Government announced the move earlier this week to help protect children's health.

It is also being welcomed by Whiteknights Yorkshire Blood Bikes who say they've had incidents where devices have punctured their tyres.

Matthew Beynon-Tullet is from the charity: "disposable vapes are often constructed of very thin metal and if ridden over can distort and can become as sharp as a knife and they can make a hole in blood bike motorcycle tyre almost as large as your thumb."

"If a motorcycle is taken out purely down to the unfortunate circumstance of riding over a disposable vape, that will have a knock on effect to the care of patients where that blood bike is on duty over that night."

"If we encounter a disposable vape that has been discarded, which is often where people have been waiting so like in hospital areas, the rider goes over them it punctures the tyre and it take that bike from making urgent deliveries for the NHS that night."

The ban on disposable vapes is expected to come in early next year.
