Stunt rider hoping to set new record for the fastest speed "skiing" behind his motorbike in York
Jonny Davies from County Durham is trying to set a new world record by "skiing" behind his motorbike as it travels at 160mph
A stunt rider is going to try and set a new record for the fastest speed - "skiing" behind his motorbike at a York race track.
Jonny Davies, 32, from Peterlee will ride his bike today at Elvington, before jumping off the back and onto specially made titanium boots that will pull him along.
He needs to reach more than 160mph and tells us how it feels.
He said: "It feels exactly how you think it would. The first few of the day, I'm thinking I'm getting dragged behind the back of the motorbike.
"However, as the day goes on you sort of normalise your brain that this is normal. That's when you can start pushing the speeds and not feel scared.
He continued to say: "I always knew I wanted to do this kind of thing. Maybe not jump off the back of the bike at 156. However, I always knew that I wanted to do stunt riding, and then as I grew older, I guess it just progressed into something that I put my focus on and then turn into a business. So yeah, I'm over the moon.
"I don't think anyone likes the speed, the speed ones, the high-speed attempts. General stunt riding I think even my four year old son is normalised with it. He doesn't even watch sometimes."
Trevor, his dad, said: "Giving him a bike at the age of three and setting him off on his journey. I never, ever pushed him, if he wanted to go out on his bike, he went out on his bike and here we are now. All these years later and he's pursuing his dreams.
"I’m immensely proud. Every time he gets on a bike, he never ceases to amaze us and makes us very, very proud."
