Walk in Covid-19 booster appointments are available at the Yorkshire Showground for today (Tuesday 7 December) only.

The Prime Minister has called for the programme to be accelerated, in order to build defences against the omicron variant which is spreading across the UK.

The NHS in North Yorkshire are encouraging people to take up the opportunity to get their booster jab during the walk in time on offer today.

People aged 40 and over can go to walk in appointments between 1.30pm and 4pm to get their third Covid jab.

Those eligible must also have no Covid symptoms and it must have been at least six months since they received their second dose.

A coronavirus booster vaccine dose helps improve the protection someone has from their first two doses of the vaccine.

It helps give longer-term protection against getting seriously ill from Covid-19.

Booster jabs are being rolled out to people aged 40 and over, people who live and work in care homes, frontline health and social care workers and people aged 16 and over with a health condition that puts them at high risk of getting seriously ill or are the main carer for someone at high risk.
