Three more coronavirus deaths have been confirmed at Harrogate Hospital – taking the total there to 98.

NHS England figures have revealed two deaths were registered on Sunday and one on Monday.

It comes after another coronavirus patient also died at the hospital on Saturday.

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death at hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

Deaths were recorded where a patient either tested positive for Covid-19 or where no positive test result was received for Covid-19, but Covid-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

The deaths announced at Harrogate Hospital today were three of 54 across Yorkshire’s hospitals.

The highest increase was recorded by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, with nine new deaths recorded.

Elsewhere in Yorkshire, a further 45 deaths were recorded, taking the death toll in the county from the virus to 4,491.

It comes as Harrogate’s weekly infection rate continues to fall steadily as it has done for the last two weeks – with it now standing at 175 cases per 100,000 people.

That figure is down from 302 at the start of November and remains below the national average of 214.
