Police say three people have been arrested after they recovered over £2,000 worth of suspected stolen honey and £100 worth of suspected stolen champagne from cars in Wetherby.

They'd been investigating reports that thieves in two cars had been seen stealing expensive honey from health stores across North Yorkshire.

Officers tracked the vehicles down to Wetherby Services on Friday.

When they searched the cars, they recovered over £2,000 worth of honey and £100 worth of champagne.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of theft, and the vehicles were seized.

Giving details of the arrests on Twitter, officers from North Yorkshire Police's Operational Support Unit had some fun with a few puns, including a 'hive' of activity at Wetherby Services, two cars 'buzzing' around the county, officers 'combing' the area, and the suspects landing themselves in a 'sticky' situation.
