Star Hobson: 'No sentence will bring justice'
Yesterday (15th March) Star's mum, 20 year old Frankie Smith, had her jail sentence increased from 8 to 12 years for causing or allowing her death
The babysitter of murdered Keighley toddler Star Hobson tells us no sentence will ever bring justice for the 16 month old.
Frankie Smith, the mother of Star Hobson, had her 8 year prison sentence for causing or allowing her daughter's death increased to 12 years at the Court of Appeal yesterday (15th March).
Her former partner, Savannah Brockhill, was found guilty of murder and handed a life term with a minimum of 25 years in prison.
Smith, 20, was found guilty of causing or allowing her death and sentenced to eight years in prison at Bradford Crown Court.
The sentence was referred to the Court of Appeal by the Attorney General's Office, under the unduly lenient sentencing scheme.
"Star was just such a ray of sunshine, I mean she was the best thing that ever happened to me."
Hollie Jones from Leeds was Star's babysitter, she says no sentence will ever bring justice:
"I definitely think it was the right decision to increase it, 12 years, I mean no sentence will ever be enough justice, but it's better than what she was previously given.
"I just felt like a weight lifted off my shoulder, because it was just completely wrong the amount of years she got previously.
"Hearing it's been increased it's just what I hoped. But 12 years, 30 years, any sentence will never be enough justice for Star.
