More police on North Yorkshire's streets this weekend
It's ahead of lockdown restrictions relaxing on Monday
More police will be out on streets in North Yorkshire this weekend, as officers warn people not to break coronavirus rules ahead of restrictions relaxing.
From Monday, groups of six or two households will meet up outside, and stay at home guidance will come to an end.
But police here are warning people not to jump the gun, and say we have to wait until the rules change before meeting up with family and friends.
We're also being told to work from home and minimise travel.
Superintendent Mike Walker, who's in charge of North Yorkshire Police's coronavirus response, said “Each district has patrol plans in place to ensure there are sufficient resources to provide reassurance and continue our ‘4 Es’ approach– to engage with the public, explain the regulations, encourage compliance, and enforce if there is no other way of dealing with breaches."
“My plea to everyone is to be extremely careful and to keep following the regulations until it is safe to resume a more normal way of living – we have come too far and made too many sacrifices for this effort to be wasted now.”
