Police appeal for information following a collision near Ripon

A 60-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital

Police are appealing for dashcam footage and information about a serious road traffic collision that happened yesterday (5 August) on the A6108 on the outskirts of North Stainley.

A blue BMW X2 car, turning out of Lightwater Valley, was in collision with the rider of an Aprilia motorcycle heading north from Ripon at around 3.35pm.

The motorcyclist, who is a 60-year-old man, was taken by air ambulance to James Cook Hospital where he is described as being in a critical condition.

The car driver, who is a 61-year-old man, was uninjured and remained on scene to assist officers.
