Parts of Skipton and Craven hit by earthquake
Many people took to social media to report homes rattling and windows shaking
It seems Skipton and surrounding areas have been hit by a mini earthquake.
People took to social media in the early hours to share their experiences.
In the Skipton Community Noticeboard, Facebook group, Nikki Ul Hassan asked:
'Did anyone else feel a shake? Was it a mini earthquake? About 2.50am.'
Many people were quick to comment:
Edward Burns replied: 'Heard a loud noise but didn't feel anything, so went to inspect downstairs, just got back to my room and then my whole house rattled'
Also on Facebook, Victoria Ideson said: 'Sent my husband down to investigate as thought something had blown up, I just hid under the duvet!'
Sophie Pickles commented: 'I was already awake with my baby and then got completely freaked out that someone was trying to break in by shaking the front door.'
Another Facebook comment from L.G. Morgan: 'Felt like something hit my house, went down to check no walls have come down since the whole place seemed to thud hard like something crashing into the wall, but end abruptly too - was it a quake or a sonic boom? My poor dogs only just come back from under the bed right this second! Been under there since it happened.'
