Another coronavirus death has been confirmed at Harrogate hospital.

NHS figures published today show the hospital recorded one death of a patient who tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, February 8.

It brings the hospital’s toll since the pandemic began up to 141 and comes after it last week reported staff were treating a record number of virus patients with 65 in beds on Friday.

Meanwhile, the seven-day infection rate in Harrogate has fallen again to 123 cases per 100,000 people. That is below the national average of 193.

A total of 12,646,486 people in the UK have now had a first dose of a coronavirus vaccine – and some 516,392 people have had their second.

Based on the latest figures, an average of 392,252 vaccinations will be needed every day to meet the government’s target of 15 million first doses by February 15.
