Warm spaces across North Yorkshire say they're ready and waiting to welcome in people who can't afford their heating at home.

A amber weather warning for snow is in place across Harrogate and much of the Dales until midday.

The cold snap is an especially difficult time for those unable to afford to put their heating on at home.

Pastor Winn James is from the Life Destiny Church in Starbeck near Harrogate and says you'll be welcomed into the Living Room Cafe - which is also a warm space:

"If they want to buy a cup of coffee or tea, they can, if they don't want to they can just sit here and stay warm. If they want to, but they can't afford it, all they have to do is give us a whisper and we can sort out a cup or tea or cup of coffee for them free of charge."

Anyone who visits the foodbank at the church is also being offered a hot water bottle and blanket to help get them cope with the cold weather.

Pastor Winn says since the rising cost of living crisis they've had more cases of people in need:

"We've had people come into the foodbank who say don't give me anything that I have to heat up, or warm because I haven't got gas and electricity and when I ask what they do they say I go to bed as soon as it gets dark and have lots of blankets on the bed"
