Campaign to teach North Yorkshire secondary pupils' danger of drugs

The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner has written to every secondary school headteacher in York and North Yorkshire asking them to take part in a new campaign.

Zoe Metcalfe wants education leaders to share a joint letter from herself and Kerry Roberts which encourages parents, guardians and care givers to start positive conversations with their children, early on, about drugs, alcohol and other substances.

Kerry' daughter Leah Heyes died when she was just 15-years-old after taking MDMA.

Together Kerry and the Commissioner have set up a campaign called "Not my Child". The idea is to encourage families to calmy have a conversation with their child about the dangers of taking drugs.

In the letter Zoe Metcalfe writes : 'I would like to share our message with families throughout North Yorkshire and the City of York and would very much appreciate your help with this.
