North Yorkshire 'on course' to meet Government vaccination target
Local health bosses are confident a jab can be given to everyone over 50 - and those with underlying health conditions - by mid-April.
We're being encouraged to look ahead to the roadmap out of lockdown thanks to the local vaccination programme.
The North Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group insists there IS a vaccine available for everyone who is eligible.
The team there say they're confident of matching the national push to offer a dose to everyone over the age of 50 - and in clinically vulnerable groups - by the 15th of April.
Amanda Bloor is the accountability officer for North Yorkshire CCG: "I really want to encourage absolutely everyone across the county to take that vaccination offer up.
"It's not just about protecting you from the illness: it's about protecting your family members, friends and communities.
"I cannot stress enough how important it is that everyone in North Yorkshire and York who is eligible for a vaccination takes up the offer. There is a vaccine for everyone who is eligible.
"We continue to work towards the milestone set by the Government, and we have plans in place to meet that. We've been assured by the Government that there will be enough supplies in place to meet the target.
"We're seeing significant progress week on week as we continue to deliver the vaccination programme. The numbers of really poorly people in our hospitals are going down, and the rollout/take-up of vaccinations is the best way to continue along that trajectory".
Over 375,000 jabs have been given out across North Yorkshire so far, with over 219,000 first doses in North Yorkshire and over 159,000 first doses in York.
