A man has died, following a crash in a North Yorkshire village.

It happened yesterday (Wednesday 4th September) at around 3.30pm, on West Moor Road in Raskelf.

The 70-year-old driver of a blue Renault Kangoo, from Helperby, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said their "thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time."

A 53-year-old woman, who was driving a black Land Rover Discovery, and her 80-year-old male passenger, were both taken to hospital with minor injuries.

In a statement, North Yorkshire Police added: "We are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured the collision or the vehicles beforehand.

"The Renault Kangoo was traveling towards Helperby, while the Discovery was heading in the opposite direction towards Raskelf at the time of the collision."
