A church group in North Yorkshire is helping to tackle loneliness in the county.

It's as a report by Harvard University suggests isolation can increase your risk of a stroke by 25%.

Scarborough Unitarian Church have just set up a weekly café to tackle the issue because of concerns about the number of local people struggling with their mental health.

Andrew Parkinson is from there:

"We discovered that there are lots of people in the local area that are on their own and a little bit fed up.

"A lot of it is really simple things and a little bit of support can go a long way to help.

"The cafe is a safe space for people to pop in for a coffee, a chat and a bit of a laugh. People can come in without any worry and everybody is welcome.

"The idea is that people can have one safe space that they visit once a week for a chat and also support other people around them. It can only be a good thing."
