The Conservative MP for Keighley and Ilkley has said the Government's plans for the next year show a Government with "drive and ambition."

Robbie Moore was speaking after the Queen's speech, announcing minister's plans for the next 12 months.

It included action on obesity and mental health, but no mention of social care.

Robbie Moore MP said rule changes requiring voters to carry a photo ID were also needed: "I do feel that the current system of voting has flaws in it. The reality is you don't need your polling card to go and vote, you can simply turn up, say your name and say the first line of your address. But there's nothing to stop anyone else doing that. There are holes in the system.

"What I really want to see get pushed forward through this Queen's speech is better connectivity, better integration and collaboration between the education sector and businesses," he added, describing a lifetime skills guarantee as "really exciting."

"Time and time again, I'm meeting businesses across Keighley and Ilkley and the wider constituency - manufacturing, engineering and tech-based businesses - saying that we need this skillset to come into our industries, which unfortunately just isn't there in the quantity that they need at the moment."

The Government's plans have been criticised by some, though, with the Labour leader saying they just "paper over the cracks".
