People across the Harrogate District who are struggling emotionally are being encouraged to reach out to a local helpline.

North Yorkshire emotional wellbeing and bereavement service Just ‘B’ is reminding local people that their specialist support workers are here to help over the winter period and beyond.

The Just ‘B’ Hear to Help community support line is designed to provide support to local people struggling with their emotional wellbeing and is open to all ages, 8am – 8pm, seven days a week.

Tony Collins, Chief Executive of Just ‘B’, said:

"It's good just to have someone to talk to, particularly around the loneliness and isolation people are going through at the moment. I think when people express their feelings and emotions to a trained listener, they quite frequently hear themselves and understand more of what they're going through. Some of these calls last five minutes and some of them last over an hour and it's very good, therapeutic support.

"There can be suggestions around processes to go through, things to do which might alleviate some of those more negative thoughts and feelings. If people are feeling low or any negative emotion it is really important to express that.

"It's going to come out in some way or another and the most positive way for that to come out is in a situation where you're being listened to, where you're being heard and where it's not going to damage any of your existing relationships. If you bottle it up it becomes much more exaggerated and it becomes bigger and bigger and that whole release of emotion really does prevent that build up."
