Staff at Knaresborough's vaccination centre have told people to not "waste their time" by not turning up to appointments.

It's as in the last seven days there were almost 450 no shows to vaccination appointments.

On Friday alone there were 219 vaccination appointments where people didn't attend.

In a statement on Facebook, Homecare Pharmacy Services, said: "Please please do the right thing and cancel any appointments for vaccinations if you choose not to be vaccinated or have been vaccinated elsewhere. Go online or ring 119. Not only does it slow the vaccination programme down and prevent us from vaccinating other people but there are people giving up their time to deliver this service in the community. Don’t waste their time."

There are currently 47,000 people across North Yorkshire who are over the age of 50 who haven't had a vaccination.

Health officials say these people have been contacted and either haven't attended appointments or are yet to book.

They're urging people to get the vaccine so the county has the best chance at coverage from covid-19.

The site at the former Lidl carpark in Knaresborough vaccinated their 10,000th patient over the bank holiday.
