Huge fire at historic Dalton Mills in Keighley

There are more than 100 firefighters on the scene in Keighley after the Dalton Mills building caught fire.

Crews from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are attempting to tackle the blaze.

Smoke has been billowing from the historic building, which was erected in 1869, since it the fire started at around midday.

There is a lot of smoke in the area and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are advising residents to keep doors and windows closed and to avoid travelling through the area.

Parents of children at the nearby Strong Close Nursery are being asked to come and collect their children as they have made the decision to close the site.

What was once the largest textile mill in the Worth Valley, employing around 2,000 people, it more recently had been used as the setting for dramas like Peaky Blinders and Downton Abbey.
