Hundreds of homes in North Yorkshire without power after Storm Arwen

Nearly 250,000 homes across the north of England have lost power as a result of Storm Arwen battering the country with high winds, snow and rain.

Hundreds of homes in North Yorkshire are currently without power with most not expected to see repairs until today (29 November).

Dozens of postcodes across Harrogate, Yorkshire Dales, Skipton and Scarborough are among the areas that are affected.

Worst affected in North Yorkshire:

The areas most affected are the HG3 and HG4 postcode, particularly Birstwith, Hampsthwaite and Spofforth.

With more than 700 Harrogate district homes still without power.

Also, more than 1,000 homes across Harrogate and the Dales are still without power following Storm Arwen.
