North Yorkshire Police say the incident at Bilton has now been resolved, and the cordon around the area lifted.

Earlier this afternoon officers were in attendance at an address in the Bilton area of Harrogate, after a suspected unexploded shell was discovered.

It was found by a member of the public in their garden at a property on Gordon Avenue.

Police evacuated a small number of houses - and the MOD were called in to make an assessment on the device.

There is no disruption to nearby Richard Taylor Primary School.

North Yorkshire Police have thanked local residents for their patience and cooperation.
