A 23 year-old man's appeared in court charged with the murder of a man from Harrogate.

It's after 48 year old Mark Wolsey was found with serious injuries in a flat near Mayfield Grove on Friday night - and later died.

Daniel Liam Ainsley entered no plea and is due back in court on Wednesday.

Police formally named the victim earlier.

His family has asked North Yorkshire Police to shared a photograph of Mr Wolsey (main image above).

They are being supported by specially-trained officers at this extremely difficult time.

Mr Wolsey was found with serious injuries following the incident on Friday night and, sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, who is from Harrogate, was located in the street shortly after and arrested.

Police yesterday reassured residents that it was a “contained incident” and the public was not at risk. The suspect was detained very quickly.

A strong police presence has continued in the area, with extra patrols to reassure those living and working nearby, and residents were urged to speak to officers if they had any anxieties or concerns about the incident.
