Festival to celebrate Knaresborough clubs most impacted by pandemic
Knaresborough Connectors have organised the free event to help businesses hardest hit
A Knaresborough community group has organised a free festival to support businesses and locals now Covid restrictions have eased.
The Knaresborough Community Festival is a free outside event giving locals the chance to chat with over 25 Knaresborough clubs, societies, sports and social groups who for the last 18 months have been hard hit by the pandemic.
Ella Fielding is from Knaresborough Connectors who are behind the event. She said: "We love to support people who need it most and being in lockdown for the last two years nearly there are some group who really need our help.
"It's really good to see who is out there and the community groups and to help them build relationships with local people.
"There is so much for families to do after such a difficult year so we've got some nice activities for kids to get involved in and to get people out of the house."
At the event there will be musical performances from the Knaresborough Silver Band, Tewit Youth Band Juniors and Knot Another Choir.
Knaresborough Lions are serving beer and prosecco from a beer tent and there will also be a selection of food options from ice cream to street food.
Some other community groups include, Knaresborough School of Speech and Drama and Chain Lane Hub.
The free event is at Knaresborough House grounds from 10am to 4pm today (24 July)
The Knaresborough Connectors scheme was successfully launched on Thursday 11th July 2019.
A range of people from community organisations including the St Roberts’ steering group took part in exploring the need for Connectors and contributed to how it could work in Knaresborough.
The group have supported hundreds of people across the town throughout the pandemic, delivering prescriptions, organising transport or collecting electronics to keep families connected and help children with their online learning.
