Easter rocks hidden across Ripon for raffle to win 5kg chocolate egg
There are 1,111 eggs to be won
Families in Ripon are being encouraged to go on an Easter rock hunt to be in with the chance of winning a 5kg chocolate egg.
Fountains Church have hidden 1,000 painted rocks across the city's Market Place and parks.
They've gone bigger than last year, where they hid 200 painted Easter rocks.
Everyone who finds a rock and brings it to the Market Place at 4pm on Sunday will be entered into a raffle to win a medium, large or the big 5kg egg.
Each rock is hidden with a little egg, finders could also win one of 100 medium eggs, one of 10 large or the giant egg so everyone is guaranteed to get one piece of chocolate.
Reverend Deborah-Lynn Wilkinson, said:
"We're aware there are so many reasons in this world to despair or to worry. There's global climate change, there's covid, the wars going on, financial strain, and it's so easy to get bogged down and feel helpless.
"We don't really think about there being hope at Easter so it's actually far bigger than any other promise than what God gave us. The bible says 'Taste and see that the lord is good' so this is just a tiny taste to remind people of what Easter is really about.
"Last year we focused on the Market Place but this year we've been putting them out in the parks. By the time we get to Good Friday there will be rocks and little eggs hidden around all the green places of Ripon.
"The hope is that people will take a selfie, they'll use our hashtags and post them onto their social media. Then we can pull them off and build up that excitement for the big chocolate giveaway."
