A village pub near Boroughbridge has been forced to close indefinitely following a fire.

It broke out at the Ship Inn at Aldborough in the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday, 10 October).

The pub took to Facebook to inform their customers:

Fire crews from Ripon, Thirsk, Knaresborough and Harrogate responded to the fire on Sunday.

Firefighters discovered the blaze in the kitchen - believed to have originated from a tumble dryer.

A Go Fund Me campaign has been launched for the owners Brian and Elaine Rey:

The pub hit the headlines back in 2011 when Princes William and Harry - along with Kate Middleton - visited for a friend’s wedding.
