Car completely destroyed in suspected arson attack in Harrogate

Firefighters have put out a car fire in Harrogate which they believe was started deliberately.

The control room received numerous calls about the blaze on open land near Fairfax Avenue in the town at around 9.45pm on Friday night.

When fire crews arrived, they found what was believed to have been a Ford Fiesta well alight.

They say the fire is thought to have started in the passenger compartment and it completely destroyed the car.

Crews successfully extinguished the blaze using a hose reel.
