Ilkley Town had to deal with an unusual pitch invader during Saturday's game against Carlton Athletic, away at their ground near Wakefield.

Around ten minutes before half-time, an alpaca, who had been watching the match from a nearby field, ran onto the pitch.

The animal, named Oscar, caused a 15-minute stoppage to play as he 'rampaged' around, according to the club.

Some members of the public apparently tried to tempt Oscar away from the pitch with food, but he was having none of it.

After the bizarre break, play eventually resumed, with Ilkley Town being undeterred by the pitch invader and finishing the game with a 2-0 victory.

The incident made it onto Sky Sports News on Saturday night, with a video of the alpaca's invasion being shown on air.
