A66 closed to all vehicles between North Yorkshire and Cumbria

The A66 between North Yorkshire (A1M) and Cumbria (M6) is closed in both directions to all vehicles due to strong winds.

The A66 between North Yorkshire (A1M) and Cumbria (M6) is closed in both directions to all vehicles due to strong winds.

The A66 was closed at around 6.30am this morning due to high winds. It is currently expected to remain closed until this afternoon.

Road users travelling across the Pennines are advised to plan ahead and consider alternative routes such as the A69.

National Highways say;

"Live traffic information is always available at www.trafficengland.com or from National Highways’ 24-7 customer contact centre at 0300 123 5000. Updates will also be posted to @HighwaysSNWEST – National Highways’ regional feed on X."
